Avrodh : The Seize Within

Directed by Raj Acharya
Distributed by Sony Live, 31 July, 2020

Avrodh: The Seize Within is based on Rahu Sighh and Shiv Aroor’s popular book, “India’s most fearless.” This webseries consist of 9 episodes of approximately 30 minutes each.

I assume that most of you have seen the Bollywood Blockbuster movie URI: The Surgical Strike featuring Vicky Kaushal. So this webseries is a more detailed version of tye events that lead to Surgical Strike on 29th Sept, 2016 on militant launch pads in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).  This series is more like a Documentary.

This webseries will provide you the actual chronology of the events taking place. It starts with an event much before than URI, which instigates the URI attack. The proper planning and how the terrorist were killed in action has been beautifully portrayed.

The background score is really intense, it will definitely give you goosebumbs in some scenes and you will feel the war chaos. This webseries is written by Abhishek Chatterjee and team and I must say they have done a very decent job. The plot is well described and even the slightest of the details is taken into consideration.

Cast:

Amit Sadh as Major Videep Singh

Amit Sadh

Darshan Kumaar as Major Raunaq Gautam

Madhurima Tuli as Namrata Joshi

Pavail Gulati

Vikram Gokhale

Neeraj Kabi as Shailesh

The War Room, Shailesh (Left)

Plot:

The webseries starts with assasination of Bilawal ( a militant, name changed ofcourse), which instigates militants to attack URI base camp and kills almost 17 Indian Soldiers while they are sleeping.

Major Videep during his homework for the mission.

And from there, the brilliantly calculated plot is planned by Indian defense headed by PM inorder to avenge the death of the soldiers who lost their life in URI attack.
Every small details relating to extraction of information to joining the clues, have been well portrayed.

Amit Sadh as Major Videep Singh. He is the one who leads the team. In last few days, I must say that I am impressed with his performance, be it in Breathe: Into the Shadows or Yaara. He has never failed to entertain me. His performance is gaining recognition these days. He plays Special force para commando whose mission is to successfully avenge the death of his brothers and to bring back all the members unhurt.

All the lead Characters

Neeraj Kabi as Shailesh is the National Security Advisor and he did a brilliant job here. He is the brain behind the mission who guides Major Videep in everyway possible to kill the mastermind behind the URI attack. He was a former journalist and RAW officer before joining as NSA.

Darshan Kumar as Major Raunaq Gautam from Bihar Regiment. His character is the well scripted character. He lost one of his close friend in the URI attack and later he joins Major Videep in his mission to avenge their fellow mates death. He is shown as a emotional man who recently turned father still love for his nation has made him join the impossible mission.

But above all I must really appreciate Vikram Gokhale’s play as PM of India. He has displayed a wonderful act. His gestures, his way of talking, his way of commanding, his way of speaking is almost similar to our present PM. He is the backbone of this mission.

After successful completion of their MISSION

My Verdict:

The direction could have been better but the acting of the cast overshadows this. The music and background score is very intense and it will really keep you engaging with the series. Amit Sadh has tried his best but Vicky Kaushal  has already set the standard, but I must say that I am not at all disappointed by his hardwork.

There is a scene where a boy tries to shoot his own mother, that is very heart throbbing and it clearly indicates the dark side of terrorism.

Many a times you will hear the dialogue like ,” ghus ke marenge!!!”  and you will definitely feel the heat of the situation. The emotions that has been attached with, is well portrayed.

The Trailer of the webseries is attached here.
